Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal data Sec-Tec Limited collects through this website, why, and the rights you have over it.

Last updated: October 2026

1. Who we are

This website is owned and operated by Sec-Tec Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 4013925). Sec-Tec Limited is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Sec-Tec Limited.

You can contact us about this policy or your personal data by email at info@sec-tec.co.uk, or by using our contact form.

2. What we collect and why

When you contact us

If you send us a message using our contact form or by email, we receive your name, your email address, the content of your message and anything else you choose to tell us. We use this information to reply to your enquiry and, if you go on to work with us, to manage that relationship.

Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries about our services, or, where you are asking about engaging us, taking steps at your request before entering into a contract. We will not add you to any mailing list or send you marketing because you have contacted us.

When you visit the website

Like almost all websites, our web server automatically records basic technical information about each request it receives: your IP address, the date and time, the page or file requested, the referring page, and your browser and device type. We use these logs only to keep the website secure and working properly, for example to detect and block attacks. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in protecting our website and our visitors. These logs are kept for no longer than 30 days unless they are needed to investigate a specific security incident.

We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking tools, and we do not build profiles of visitors.

3. Cookies

This website does not set any cookies and does not use similar technologies such as tracking pixels or browser fingerprinting. See our cookie policy for more detail.

4. Third-party content and links

All of this website’s pages, images, scripts and video are served from our own web server; we do not load content from third-party services when you view our pages. The security news headlines are collected by our server and shown as links. If you follow a link to another website (such as The Register, LinkedIn or The Cyber Scheme), that website’s own privacy policy applies.

5. Who we share your data with

We do not sell or rent your personal data. We share it only with service providers that help us run our business and this website, such as our website hosting and email providers, who process it on our behalf and under our instructions, and with professional advisers or authorities where the law requires it.

Our website is hosted in the European Economic Area. If any of our service providers process personal data outside the UK, we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place as required by UK data protection law, such as UK adequacy regulations or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement.

6. How long we keep it

  • Enquiries that do not lead to further work: up to 12 months after our last contact with you.
  • Records relating to work we carry out for clients: for as long as we work together and for 6 years afterwards. We are required to keep business and tax records for this period by UK law (for example by HMRC).
  • Web server logs: up to 30 days, as described above.

7. How we protect it

As an information security company, we take the protection of your data seriously. We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect it, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections to this website, restricted access to our systems, and keeping our systems up to date.

8. Your rights

Under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018), you have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct data that is inaccurate or incomplete;
  • ask us to delete your data;
  • ask us to restrict how we use your data;
  • object to our use of your data where we rely on our legitimate interests; and
  • ask us to transfer data you have given us to another organisation, where this applies.

To exercise any of these rights, email info@sec-tec.co.uk. We will respond within one month. There is normally no charge.

9. Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal data, please contact us first so that we can try to put things right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK’s data protection regulator: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, telephone 0303 123 1113.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated shown at the top.
